14th Century Inn - The Team We pride ourselves on a high standard of food and service here at The George Inn, and are repeatedly given wonderful compliments from guests with regards to our food. When we first bought The George, Roland, who originally trained as a chef, and whose passion is good food, took over the Kitchen and set the menu and standards, as we wanted them. Happily, we now boast a team of three, highly regarded chefs who are equally as passionate about their food!! Our team is organised by Head Chef, Mark Speller who served his apprenticeship at The Ritz in London, and after working as Demi Chef de Partie at The Ashdown Park Hotel and Sous Chef at The Powdermills Hotel in Battle, decided that he loved village life and a small, intimate kitchen where he could really express himself, and so joined us. We are extremely happy to have chosen him. Our second Chef Madlin Pieniazczak first worked as a chef with T.G.I. Fridays and then at the Hilton Hotel, Gatwick. She then decided to step out of her whites, and experience life “front of house” as Restaurant and Bars Manager at The George Inn, Crawley. The lure of the kitchen proved too strong and she returned to cooking with us in October 2000, and has proved to be a most valuable part of our team. Mark and Madlin are ably assisted by Antony Wadey, and our part-time chef Mat Payne. |
