Alfriston Clergy House was the first building to be purchased by the
National Trust. Bought in 1896 for £10, parts of the Clergy are open to the public.
There is also an attractive and charming cottage garden.

St Andrews, a 14th Century Church, known as the Cathedral of the South Downs, was constructed
using local flint in the shape of a Greek Cross on a mound; believed to be an old Saxon burial ground.
